With this technical masterpiece "Made in Germany", Lange created a new benchmark in the construction of exquisite mechanical watches: The DATOGRAPH is the world's first chronograph based on the classic column-wheel principle with flyback, precisely jumping minute counter, and patented outsize date.
In 1999,
Lange & Sohne was the talk of the Basel Fair, and the toast of the watch world
for months afterward, all for introducing the Datograph. After all, such amazing
watches come along only rarely.
The case on this Datograph is solid platinum, with dimensions of 39.3mm diameter
by 13.6mm thick. Date advancement button on left side of the case; sapphire
front and display crystals.
Caliber is the manual winding Lange & Sohne L951.1 with 40 jewels, several of
which are sunken into gold chatons, beating at 18,000BPH, featuring a 3/4
Glashutte plate and column wheel construction. This movement is incredibly well
designed and constructed... just a perfect example of how a caliber can attain
art status, and how humans can strive for emotion and beauty in their machines.
Dial is solid silver in composition and black in color, with applied roman
numeral hour markers and sticks, oversized date display and contrasting subdials.
THE DATOGRAPH – A COMPLICATION FROM SAXONY.
The DATOGRAPH reflects a totally new approach in the development of chronographs based on the classic column-wheel principle; it stands out as a worthy ambassador for the attribute "Made in Germany". With its impressive line-up of complicated mechanisms, it deserves to be called an exceptional phenomenon in the domain of mechanical watchmaking.EXCEPTIONAL MECHANISMS.
The DATOGRAPH stops events as long as 30 minutes with an accuracy of one-fifth of a second. Thanks to the precisely jumping minute counter, the stopped time is very easy to read. The flyback function allows the chronograph to be instantaneously reset to zero during an ongoing measurement, simply by pressing a push-piece in the case. As soon as it is released, a new timing cycle begins. This eliminates the need to stop a measurement and reset the stop hand before starting a new measurement.AESTHETIC PERFECTION.
The patented outsize date in the twin gold-framed aperture assures excellent legibility. The luminous hour and minute hands are made of rhodiumed gold. The hands in the subsidiary dials are crafted from blued steel. The tachometer scale along the circumference of the main dial adds a subtly dynamic touch to the personality of this remarkable watch. The sapphire-crystal caseback, secured with six screws, showcases the technical and aesthetic finesse of Lange's L951.1 movement.

The customer is responsible for all freight charges for items returned back to us. We recommend a carrier with a tracking number to verify package delivery. Insurance is highly recommended for the return package.
All returns not accepted will be mailed back to the customer, at the customer's expense, via fully insured overnight shipping.
